Prevcor™
PrevCor was developed to provide enhanced
corrosion protection for high temperature
exhaust coatings. It was designed originally as
an undercoat for BHK, Turbo X and the ColorGard
series. PrevCor can simply be sprayed down as a
very thin film, allowed to fully dry and then be
top coated with the High temp Coating of choice.
We have had independent tests show Salt Spray
numbers (ASTM B117) over 800 hours with no
failure. The actual limits of protection are
unknown at this time, though testing continues.
However customers are also interested in
applying CilGen High temp Coatings over PrevCor
to enhance corrosion resistance. The procedure
is slightly different. PrevCor must be baked and
lightly etched prior to top coating with a
CilGen product. Again salt spray numbers are
showing comparable figures to the other High
temp Coatings.
Using PrevCor is becoming more and more
important as applicators encounter salt spray
requirements from potential manufacturing
customers. Other than Metallic Ceramic coatings,
such as CermaKrome, no other type of system will
pass most manufacturers requirements. For the
normal enthusiast this is not an issue as the
coatings will last for years. However to meet
manufacturers requirements and avoid the expense
of applying a full coat of CermaKrome, PrevCor
is the answer to meeting the standards. This
gives Tech Line customers a tremendous advantage
over competitive products, which consistently
fail salt spray testing.
Anodizing show
Tech Line will be displaying at the upcoming
SUR-FIN (Surface Finishing) Show, June 14th
and 15th at the Convention Center in
Rosemont, IL. This show is being put on by the
National Association for Surface Finishing.
For those customers who are interested in
all the latest developments (ongoing) in the
DiamonDyze process or the other tech Line
products that can enhance Anodizing, be sure to
attend. Tech Line will be posting additional
information in a future Newsletter about free
admission to the show.

From Gregg
Vanpeenan
Transportation Technologies Performance Program
Gregg passed on the following information
regarding the use of Tech Line products.
“We used the coatings we purchased from you on
two engines. One of the schools dyno engines and
a Big block Oldsmobile E85 fueled performance
engine. One very interesting result was that we
first ran the E85 engine on 110 octane racing
gasoline. The engine made over 550 HP and over
610 Lb Ft. We changed nothing except going to
the same size carburetor calibrated for Ethanol.
We ran the inferior E70 winter blend from a
local gas station. We were amazed to find that
we almost exactly duplicated the 110 racing
gasoline with the E70.”
With greater use of ethanol in the market today it is
good to know that the performance gains
associated with Tech Line products are not
reduced by such use and in fact help resist
octane related detonation as well as enhancing
Horse Power and Torque with a lower octane rated
fuel.
