Welcome to Techlines... September 2002

NEW COATINGS

We have been working on a variety of new coatings. The first to be released will be two new air drying coatings developed specifically for Turbo applications. These are made with very high temperature stable pigments as well as ceramics for increased thermal barrier function. They will be solvent based and available in 8oz, Quart and Gallon containers. The coating will be available in Black and Blue

Ooops

From: D. & L. Performance,
Ontario Canada

On a 1270 Kawasaki used in drag racing, producing close to 230 H.P. They installed new carbs. The jetting as supplied in the new carbs, was way off what was needed. They smoked the plugs twice before identifying the problem. They were about 15 jets sizes off. Yet they did not hurt the coated parts. CBC2 and CBX offer incredible thermal protection.

Performance Computer Chips.

From: Dean Stout Stout Performance
Duncan S.C.

Dean has been working with our coatings for quite a while. He does a lot of Performance engines. He passes on the following thoughts for those who intend to upgrade to a performance chip. Since the coatings dramatically change the character of the combustion chamber, normal mapping of the chips does not work well with coated motors. When speaking with a tech guy from your chip manufacturer, indicate you are using coated parts and the mapping needs to show less timing and less pulse width. When used as normally set, it can lead to less than expected performance, sometimes going into detonation due to improper fuel delivery and timing.

Dean also passed on the information that they have been very happy with the results of using WSX on cylinder walls. The last engine coated showed less than a 1/2% change in leak down figures, after its first full race. This stuff really works.

Corvette Fever, November 2002

Has a mention of our coating as applied by Hypercoat. The July 2002 issue of Corvette fever also had a comment in their "C5 Solutions" section. They writer recommends ceramic coated exhausts over Stainless Steel. If you can find the magazines use them with your customers.

New Metallic Ceramic Coatings

We are still in the final stages of development on a non-chromic Cermakrome. We have overcome most of the major hurdles in creating the coating and are now proceeding with further aspects of this program. We have successfully blended and sprayed a formulation. We are now working on refining the formulation and expect to have a finished product after the first of the year.
