CAST IRON MANIFOLDS
We have had a number of requests for a lighter gray than our standard
Cast Iron gray. It is possible to create any shade of gray that you
desire by combining our CHK (cast Iron Colorguard) with ALK (Aluminum
Colorguard). The coatings use the same resin system and will mix with
no problems. It is also possible to mix Black Satin with either coating
as well, for darker or black/gray shades.
It is also recommended that Cermakrome be used under any top coat
on cast iron manifolds. One of the biggest problems with cast iron
is its porosity. Cermakrome will help fill the pores and increase
rust resistance. First spray and bake Cermakrome then when cool lightly
sandblast and apply the top coat.
FROM ARDUN AT:
A-1 CERAMACOAT
SEMINOLE, FL
Ardun has been having good success with Cast Iron (CHK) as a single
coating, by putting the coated manifold in his "hot box"
over night at about 110F. Then he bakes at 500f. He has not had rust
problems when following this practice.
PRICE INCREASE
For the first time, Tech Line Coatings will be having a price increase.
Increases in all forms of insurance as well as price increases received
from our raw material suppliers have left us with no choice but to
increase prices slightly. In the most popular items the average price
increase is just slightly more than 0.02%. The last time we had a
price change in our products it was a price decrease on our most popular
coatings.
NEW COATINGS
We are currently working on some new high temperatures colors including
Red and Yellow. We do not expect to have these available until after
the first of the year. We are also working a series of Water Based
High Temperature coatings that will air dry. These would be for engine
blocks and heads as well as other parts where traditional paints cannot
handle the heat. They should be very tough and have excellent corrosion
resistance as well. Release is anticipated to be in the 2nd quarter
of 2003.
RETAIL PACKAGED PRODUCTS
During reformulation, a few of our Retail packaged products will
not be available. These are as follows: MCX/MCK Cermakrome in 6oz
containers (Note bulk material for shops will be available). CBC2
and CBX in 3oz containers (Product sold to shops will continue to
be available). This applies only to RETAIL SALES of these products.
We hope to have the reformulated and repackaged products available
just after the first of the year.
