Web Site Ranking
When compared to the other well known coating companies in the USA,
Tech Line ranks Highest in customer traffic according to "Alexa"
which tracks traffic to web sites. Tech Line ranks nearly 2 ½
times higher than the next closest company, and over 15 times higher
than the lowest ranked. This is an indication of how well known our
products have become as well as an indicator of the growth in interest.
Among the top 5 companies only Tech Line and one other, were up in
the rankings. Ranking is based on the number of "hits" a
web site experiences.
The high ranking of Tech Line compared to the other companies is
also an indication of the benefit to be found by being qualified as
an "Approved Applicator" on our web site.
MCXLH
We have made a slight change to MCXLH. This does not affect the performance
in any way. Over the years we have seen that MCXLH can settle quite
hard, harder than standard MCX. This makes blending it prior to spraying
difficult. We are adding an ingredient that is used in a couple of
other coatings we make, that use the same resin system. This ingredient
reduces settling and packing of the solid particles. The additive
does generate a little foam when blended. This does not affect the
performance at all. We are also testing a new additive that may reduce
or eliminate any foam generation.
A second benefit from using this additive is that the coating will
cling better and is less subject to running or sagging. Temperature
and humidity swings also do not impact the coating nearly as much
with the additive. This is part of our ongoing research and development
program, which not only focuses on new coatings but on improving existing
coatings as well.
JEG'S Engine Masters Contest
Tech Line Coatings, Inc is again a sponsor in the Jeg's Engine Masters
Contest conducted by Popular Hot Rodding Magazine. This contest brings
together engine builders from across the country. This will be the
third year the contest has been held. Last year 5 of the top 10 engines
were identified as running Tech Line products. This includes the #3
position. In reality several others were using our products as well.
Out of the top 10 positions, only two did not list coatings. Keep
in mind only those companies that signed up as a sponsor would be
listed. The use of coatings has grown in this contest. The first contest
winner was Joe Sherman, who used a significant amount of coatings
in his engine.
Sun Engineering
Jerry at Sun Engineering in NM passed on the results of a recent
test. Jerry coated the intake on a 350 Chevy engine, with a combination
of our thermal barrier coating TLLB and our thermal dispersant, TLTD.
In addition, following our recommendation, he installed stainless
steel studs. Jerry indicates that after 20 minutes of running he could
easily put his hands on the Carb. Normally the Carb would be at near
engine temperature and too hot to handle. These coatings have a major
impact on manifold temperatures. Reduced manifold and carburetor temps
translate into more power. Both normally aspirated, Carb or Injectors,
and Turbo Charged/Supercharged engines show benefits.
WHY RETAIL PACKAGING
We get regular questions as to the difference between the retail
packaged products and shop only products. In most cases the products
are the same regardless of the packaging. Black Satin in a 4 oz. retail
package is the same as in a gallon. In a few cases, because of the
ingredients necessary to make a coating, we restrict the sale to shops
only. In some cases we have made a retail version available, such
as CBC1 which is a retail version of CBX. If a coating is not listed
on our retail price list, which is available on our web site, it is
not available to the general public. Products listed in the catalog
but not in the retail price list are available to shops only.
