TECHLINES CORRECTION
In a previous, Newsletter we reported that our coatings were on the
winning car and second place car at the IRL race in Phoenix. This
was not correct. The following information was provided by Jim
Dugan of Custom Craft, Inc.
Penske racing had been using Custom Craft during 2001 to provide
the coating service for their teams. They were approached by another
coating company and gave them an opportunity to demonstrate the effectiveness
of their coatings. Consequently our coatings were not used at Phoenix.
The result of this test led Penske racing to return to Custom Craft
for their coating needs. The "other" coating flaked and
failed in several areas. This is critical to engine performance.
INDY 500 WINNER
The winning car was using our coatings, as applied by Custom Craft,
Inc of Midland Arkansas.
Team Penske was so satisfied with the performance of our coatings,
as applied by Custom Craft, that they had two team members DRIVE from
Indianapolis to Custom Craft in Arkansas, and wait for several pair
of headers to be coated. The winning car on Carb Day was running a
pair of these coated headers.
On an Indy car the tune up of the engine is extremely critical. It
takes into consideration even the thermal barrier effects of the coating
on the headers. If the coating fails it can drastically effect how
the engine runs. In addition the heat reduction provided from the
coatings impact parts near the headers, including electronic, body
panel integrity and in some cases shock absorber function.
Most Major IRL teams are running our coatings!!!
NEW LOCATION
Barring the appraisal of our new building not being up to snuff,
we hope to be moving into a larger headquarters facility in three
to four weeks. There will be no change in phone numbers. Only the
California address will change. The growth in business has required
that we expand our operations here in California. In addition to housing
our main offices, we will do some blending and shipping from this
location. We also hope to be able to hold seminars as well as provide
occasional training sessions.
If the appraisal isn't OK we will be at our old address for a while
longer.
SPECIALTY LUBRICANTS
ULTRA GEL While most of our focus is on bonded coatings there
is a market for our specialty lubricants. Ultra Gel, as an example,
is used by most major Top Fuel and Alcohol teams. It is an excellent
assembly material and can handle the extreme pressures associated
with Top Fuel motors.
ULTRA X Ultra X was originally formulated for Off Road power
steering pumps. However it is an excellent light weight lubricant
for any standard transmission that is currently using ATF. This is
an excellent material for 5 spd transmissions in 5.0 Mustangs. It
can also be used to lubricate in third members. It is being used in
dry clutch motorcycle transmissions.
ULTRAGARD UltraGard is a high pressure engine oil additive.
Rather than treating the oil or treating the ferrous metals parts,
UltraGard puts sub micron Moly in suspension. The lubricants are capable
of carrying loads in excess of 350,000 psi. In addition the lubricating
particles are attracted to heat and migrate to areas of high friction
and load. UltraGard does not require that a full bottle be added with
each oil change. Generally one bottle treats 6 quarts of oil and the
next three oil changes will only require 1/3 bottle.
For any shop handling either our retail products or offering a coating
service, these become easy items to market to your customers.
CERMAKROME POLISH
We hope to be offering our own polish for Cermakrome. This will be
for general maintenance not for the initial polishing. It works very
well on all metals. The product should be available in about 60 days.
This can be sold along with the coating service as an aid to keeping
the coated parts looking nice.
