Welcome to Techlines... June 2002

GREAT AMERICAN RACE

The number 4 finishing car was running our coatings. The vehicle is a 1934 Herbert Indy Car #52 driven by Rex Gardner of Flat Motor Research in Spillwell, KS. The car owner is Gary Kuck, of Lincoln Nebraska. The flat head was equipped with coated pistons. We were told that this was the "quietest" flat head they had run and that it was also the "coolest".

The Great American Racer was an interesting event and we had the opportunity to see a variety of historic vehicles when the race came through a neighboring community.

From Don at Replika Maschinen.

Don does a lot of cylinder head modifications and includes our coatings in the finished part. He wanted to pass on the results from a coated cylinder head run on a "Shifter Kart". The temperature dropped 15 degrees due to the coating in the combustion chamber. No power figures were available as the head was modified beyond just the coating.

From Dave at Porting Dynamics Minneapolis, MN.

After approximately 60 dyno pulls and 1 year of street duty, CBC2 was still looking good on the 364 Cu. In. Chevy motor running 9.6:1 compression. This engine has seen about 15,000 miles as well as all of the dyno pulls.

From Daniel of "Powerkits" Singapore.

Daniel has been coating turbo housings on the exhaust side with our BHK for some time. He dropped us a note to let us know the results he saw when using IC-1 on the exterior of the intake side of a turbo. He indicated there was a noticeable improvement.

IC-1 is an excellent thermal barrier and is normally used on floorboards above the exhaust system to reduce interior temperatures. Since it is an air curing material it can be used in many other areas where heat is an issue.

ULTRAGUARD

Tech Line has for years sold an engine oil additive, UltraGuard. The primary ingredient is Moly. However not all additives are created equal, not even all those using Moly. The particle size and the concentration have a major impact on performance. The following letter will demonstrate the effectiveness.

From: John Walsh

Friend of mine gave me two 6 oz. Bottle of your TLC2 UltraGuard. Have used moly engine oil supplements before and they didn't seem to make any difference. This stuff does.

Car #1 93 Buick 3.8 L V-6 with 85,000 miles on it. Car runs well to start with. Oil is changed regularly and I use Castrol Syntec 10W30 synthetic. After a day or two, the engine sounded smoother and quieter, and the fuel economy improved noticeably.

Car #2 is a replica of a 66Shelby Cobra with 6,500 miles on it. Motor is a 351 Ford Windsor, TFS twisted wedge aluminum heads, CompCams hydraulic roller cam, roller rocker arms. It too runs well, and also uses Castrol Syntec 10W30 synthetic. Same thing. After a day or two, engine sounded smoother and quieter, and fuel economy improved noticeably.

While we do not promote our lubricants as much as our Performance Coatings much, they work very well and can be a source of add on sales to a shop.
