PISTON COATING and KARTS
From Howard & Sons
Phelan, CA
The fine results they are experiencing in the Kawasaki Kart Division
will be on interest to all. Normally a piston will last one race and
then will be discarded due to damage experienced during the race under,
normal conditions. Their piston is lasting at least three races. We
were told their piston still looks good but they are afraid to run
it any more even though it looks OK.
ULTRA X
Last month we reported on the excellent results that have been experienced
through the use of ULTRA X in transmission and differentials. However
ULTRA X was originally developed for Off Road power steering pumps.
The benefits to be found in this application are documented in the
August issue of Peterson's 4WHEEL and Off-Road. On page 98 they have
a story with the title of Snake Oil? A 1985 Dodge Ram was used as
the test bed. After a grueling run they measured the temperature of
the pump. In addition they reported on the condition of the fluid
during operation. They tested standard fluid; standard fluid mixed
2:1 with ULTRA X and straight ULTRA X.
The results. The temperature measured at the steering box end cover,
not the fluid itself, dropped 16f. What does that mean for someone
using ULTRA X. With standard fluid the pump and steering box puked
out fluid within 5 minutes of operation from the cap as well as the
steering box sector shaft and input shaft seals. The straight ULTRA
X took 20 minutes to show a slight dribble.

CERMALUBE UPDATE
CERMALUBE
From Bud Yancer
M.A.C.H. Development
Phoenix, AZ
Bud has been continuing to test our Cermalube. As reported in a previous
newsletter Cermalube has been working extremely well, based on the
original test formula. Bud has since been running the current formula
that was released to the market earlier this year and it is showing
even better results than the original test formula.
