NEW PRODUCT

ColorGard Stainless™

A new ColorGard™ product is in development. This is an air drying polishable exhaust system coating, ColorGard Stainless™. This coating dries at ambient temperatures. It may then be polished to a very high luster, mimicking a highly polished Stainless appearance.

This new addition to the ColorGard™ line has all of the basic characteristics of the balance of the line which includes Aluminum (matte), Cast iron, and Titanium finishes. It is very hard, has good corrosion resistance, an excellent thermal barrier once cured with exhaust heat. It will maintain the polished appearance to base metal temperatures approaching 1200f. We have tested the coating with EGT’s of approximately 2000F and base metal temps to 1600F. No delamination occurred.

ColorGard Stainless™ will be available in 12 oz cans and Quarts. ColorGard Stainless™ will only be available in retail containers and for retail sale. Shops wishing to achieve the same appearance should use either Cermakrome™ or CermaSSteel™. ColorGard Stainless™ is a solvent based high temperature ceramic coating. A Variation of Gray Ice is also being developed and will be available shortly after we release ColorGard Stainless™. ColorGard Gray Ice™ will be a Dark Gray, semi gloss finish with Metallic Highlights.

GRAY THERMAL DISPERSANT

Customers have asked about a Gray rather than a Black Thermal Dispersant. Our original product was gray. That product is still available as a special order using part number GTB. The price is the same as TLTD (Black). In testing we have seen no significant difference in performance. Depending on the test parameters you can see a swing of 2 to 3 degrees either way. Over the years Black simply became the most popular and we removed GTB from our standard catalog. A new more efficient Thermal Dispersant is in development. Testing is progressing to determine the final formulation.

SOLVING SMALL RUST SPOTS ON FRESH CERMAKROME

From Henry at Classic Coatings.
Sheboygan, WI

Henry was occasionally seeing a spot rusting on top of Cermakrome. He even noticed rust on an aluminum part after blasting. Their new blasting employee suggested putting magnets in front of the dust collector to pull out any iron material. The magnets, after a few minutes of blasting, start picking out the iron. Since then, they have not seen the occasional rust spots. Good Idea.
