Manifold stays Red
From L. Dennis
We received the following email from a satisfied customer.
Mr. Dennis had the underside of his intake coated as well as the
two hottest areas on the top. He wanted to keep the paint from burning
on his 455 Buick engine. The results after he "painted the intake
with an Imron type paint, It worked !!!!! "
Normally the paint would turn black in theses areas right away, but
after 100 miles it is still red.
Note we are working on very high temperature Block and head paints
now. We will advise everyone when they are available.
NEW CBC1
As many of you know we are reformulating CBC2 and CBX for retail
use. The final formula is in testing right now at an independent facility.
This is a new water based product with no hazardous solvents or other
ingredients.
In our initial testing we were able to melt a piece of aluminum out
from under the coating without breaking the film of the coating. The
resin is capable of handling base metal temperatures over 2000f, which
is well beyond the melt point of aluminum. The coating will withstand
the heat of combustion and protect the coated part very effectively.
Before we release the product we wish to have the material independently
tested. As soon as the testing is finished we will release the product
to the market.
PRECISION ENGINE MAGAZINE
Jan /Feb 2003
More and more attention is being given to the coating of Internal
Engine parts. The latest edition of Performance Engine magazine includes
an article titled "Performance Engine Bearing Technology".
In the article it addresses the benefits of coated bearings. It makes
the point that coated bearings are not just for the professional engine
builder and pro racers. They state; " it's the weekend race
with a limited budget who can benefit ...." It then discusses
the benefits when the oil film breaks down, which is a regular occurrence.
In addition it draws attention to coatings used to protect the camshaft.
ENGINEMASTERS.COM
Tech Line coatings is now a sponsor with the Popular Hot Rodding
"Engine Masters" contest. If you haven't looked into this
contest it would be good to do so. You may not be entering but virtually
every engine being built for the contest is coated. They know they
can't make competitive power without it.
CORVETTE FEVER
In the June issue they had a press release on coated brakes. Two
separate references were made to coatings. Both are on page 45. One
reference was to the barrier coating and one on the dispersant. Both
help keep things cooler. We hope to be able to release the test performed
by a major brake manufacturer shortly. The results shocked them. Far
better than they even hoped for!
WSX
From Auto Works Diesel Spokane WA.
They have been using WSX on their wrist pins. The results? According
to Auto works the pins drop through the piston pin bores instead of
needing to be pushed through, as was necessary before using WSX.
