Hazardous Shipping

Hazardous Shipping Regulations dictate the boxing and other charges that become part of the freight bill. We are making every effort to comply at the lowest cost to our customers. These regulations and requirements WILL BE followed and there will be no exceptions. Because a Shipper must be Hazardous Certified, it becomes very difficult for someone to return a product to us. BE SURE that you use the proper product name and part number when ordering from us. Companies that produce Hazardous Products and do not comply with the proper Shipping regulations or are not certified are subject to very large penalties.

DO NOT send any Hazardous product back to Tech Line Coatings, inc. via US Mail.

Speedway Illustrated Magazine

An article has appeared in this magazine discussing the advantages to be found in using Thermal Barrier Coatings authored by David Vizard. It includes information on the benefits to be found in coating intake manifold bottoms as well as coating the intake runners. By coating these surfaces you can effectively reduce the intake temperature as well as reduce the heat that can be absorbed by the air or air / fuel mix as it passes through the runners.

An additional point was made about the gain that can be seen by coating the intake valve. The incoming air/fuel mixture will pass over the valve just before entering the combustion chamber. When the mix passes over the valve it will pick up heat that has been absorbed by the valve, during combustion. This can lead in extreme cases to detonation. In less extreme cases it still can reduce power. Coating the valve reduces the heat absorbed and contributes to a "cooler" air fuel mix, which means a greater power potential. Wheel Coatings

There is a great deal of interest in wheel coatings. This is of special, interest to Circle Track competitors as wheel and tire temperatures are critical. Tech Line Coatings has been recommending a variety of coatings for wheels. By choosing the proper coating wheel, tire and break temperatures can be controlled to a beneficial degree.

For the retail or do - it - yourself market IC-1 insulator is an excellent coating for the inside bell of the wheel to reduce temperature transfer from the breaks. IC-1 is an air curing coating that can be used by anyone. It is a very effective thermal barrier and has been tested in environments exceeding 1000f. IC-1 has normally been used as a thermal barrier coating for floor boards, to reduce the heat that enters the drivers compartment, from the exhaust system.

Cermakrome Packaging

We are considering changing the container that we ship gallons of Cermakrome in. The new bottles, if we elect to use them, will have a smaller opening but will give a better seal. We will be submitting these containers for testing to UN4G packaging specifications. If this approval is granted we will be able to ship Cermakrome in the same container regardless of the shipping method. Currently we must re-pack all shipments traveling by air, outside the USA. This increases the time that it takes to prepare and ship an order as well as leading to increased cost. The new opening will be approximately 2 1/4" wide.

Hazardous Coatings

Several of our coatings contain a chemical that requires that we list them as Corrosive. We have been testing new formulas that do not require this particular chemical ingredient. Initial testing has been successful and we are proceeding with additional testing to make sure that no needed properties have been lost with the new formulations. When we have completed testing we will replace the existing formulas with the new ones. In most cases we will not change part numbers or names. We will advise our customers of any major changes, at the time they place an order for any of these coatings. If reformulating is successful the new coatings will not need to be shipped as Hazardous Corrosive Liquids.
